Trying to find out the parents of John Ward B: 1/28/1765 D: 8/29/1842. I have traced him back that I think he was my GGGGrandfather. Any help would be greatly appreciated, or any of the Wards. IN ADDITION to Shirley's request above would like to add that we are attempting to find out the parentage of Margaret Ward who married John Hillman in 1693. There is also information about a George Ward who married Hannah Wainwright in 1697. Margaret & George could be brother and sister, but hopefully not, since George Ward remarried Abigail Rowand in 1746. Abigail Rowand was the daughter of John Hillman and Margaret Ward. She married Alexander Rowand first about in 1720. If George and Margaret were brother and sister, then George's 2nd marriage to Abigail's 2nd marriage would have been to his niece. In Florence Hillman's new book on the Hillman family, she has come of the opinion that Margaret Ward was originally a Collins and therefore had the name of Ward by a first marriage. Additionally I have a Sarah Ward who married John Inskeep in 1724 in Phila. I descend from John Hillman, Abigail Hillman, Margaret Ward, Sarah Ward & Alexander Rowand listed above. My distant relation, and now, paid researcher, Kathy Karn, who is a great helper, has found material on my elusive SOMMERS family. Most of this does not relate to Gloucester County. But one name apparently does. Unless it is Gloucester City, which (am I right?) is in Camden County... I lean toward this being a Camden burial... Can anyone please visit, and confirm the existence of a stone, or a record, for this young child, my Aunt, who is buried at St. Mary's in Gloucester? Catherine Clara SOMMERS, born 1909 (1713 South 4th Street, Camden, New Jersey) and died July 29, 1909. She lived 21 days. She was only revealed to me (and my relatives, I believe) today! Just after you exit the Garden State Parkway, south, for Port Republic and Smithville,heading south, you pass a boat yard on your left. Just beyond that on the left as you travel south on Rt. 9, there is a short road that leads back to a Revolutionary War Memorial. It's hard to see from Rt. 9, but make the left turn and you'll see it beyond some trees and shrubs. Old New York Rd. was a major thoroughfare many years ago and remnants of this road are nearby.
