    1. [NJGLOUCE] Moses PETTY doc search
    2. Catherine R. Buck
    3. I saw in a private printed book that in 1792 Moses PETTY was a member of the Kingwood Militia, Hunterdon County. Moses is my gr gr gr grandfather. I need to document every step. Will someone suggest where I look for the documentation for his service in the NJ Militia. Does anyone know what information is contained on whatever documents were used at the time. I'm hoping to find his age in 1792. Because it may give me a clue what year he was born. He had to be at least 18 years old. Thanks for any suggestions -- they're all welcome. Ruth in GA

If anyone sees a connection to my family anywhere, please let me know, I love finding distant cousins and exchanging information! Take care - Deb P.S. Due to the anthrax scare, my return address will be in the upper left hand corner and will originate from California. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp

    1. [NJGLOUCE] Rahama?
    2. I missed the beginning of Deb's search for her ancestor, but am wondering about her relationship to some of my line. I have a number of relatives named Ruhama (and variations), which is so unusual that I immediately thought Rahama Keller might be related too. Any thoughts? Thanks, Pat Salt North Reading MA searchin Justice, Blackman NJ>OH

    1. [NJGLOUCE] Who built the house west of me in 1825? James Blackman?
    2. HERMON B FAGLEY
    3. You all know I hike the berm of RT 125 east,or west, 2-5 times daily.\ Westbound,I often turn just past an old 2 story Federal brick now owned by the Butch Loudon's. Previous,[1846] it was Johnson's, and then Mahlon Wilson's, and then Cliff Justice's,followed by Annabelle Justice m Ed Harris, and then Rosalee Harris m Hubert Douglass, whose will gave it to Miami,of Ohio,U,WHO SOLD to the Loudon's. When asked,I said the Johnson's built it. [Amanda Justice's 1846-48 diary has the Johnson's living there. But,Sat night,my grand dau thru a Halloween party, including her lifelong best friend, Holly Harris, and her dad,Mike, and grandmother,Janette Harris. And Mike told me the house was built in 1825,and the one one the Pinkham farm,1826. 1825 was too early forv the Johnson's. They did not pay property tax here in Tate township in 1826. So,I just studied the 1826 tax list, and studied those in Waters Va Military Survey, and am guessing,of those possible, that it was my own ship's carpenter, James Blackman, who built it. 1824 James Blackman's young twin daughter married Savil Justice,of Jesse,of this farm. The Loudoun's old Federal brick sits very near the north side of RT 125,3 MILES WEST OF Bethel,Clermont Co,Ohio. James Blackman,in 1815,joined his sister and husband, the 1803 REV JOHN COLLINS,at Elk Lick. He built,1815-25 the old portion of 'the Elk Lick House-moved to Sharon Woods,ne Cincinnati, when Lake Harsha was flooded. James Blackman also built Old Bethel Methodist,in East Fork State park. Then,in the late 1820's he moved to Cincinnati's downtown, and was class leader of 5th street's former Wesleyian Methodist-UNDER P@G's twin towers. 1850 cholera drove him near his daughter's at Reading-Lockland,Ohio

    1. [NJGLOUCE] Update on Ruhanah KELLER
    2. Deborah Johnson
    3. Hi Everyone - I just thought I would pass along this information because of the kindness of so many of you with her name! I knew from census records that she was born in Ohio in 1874, a couple of kind souls did an nationwide LDS search for her in 1880 and came back with only one possible using her first name and soundex, it gave her parents as Henry and Margaret A. Smith KELLER, everything else fit in that census right down to her parents places of birth and hers and her age in 1880! So, last night, I was playing with her first name at the LDS site and found this:Rahama_ KELLER Sex: M Event(s): Birth: 18 Oct 1874 Belmont, Ohio Parents: Father: Henry KELLER Mother: Margaret A. SMITH Though the sex is male and the month is different from what the census had said in 1900, when she was married, the parents match the 1880 census, and according to that same census, all the other children born had "normal" names, hee hee. So, I finally, after years of never using it, took advantage of the free look ups through ancestralfindings and will know in about a week, hopefully, the correct spelling and birth month, then I can send for the ceritificate! I did tell them I only knew for sure that it was Ohio in 1874 and her parents names, that the 18 OCT and Belmont are not positive, and yes, I did specify that she was female! Anyway, the more I look at the marriage certificate, which is the original from 1896 by the way, it looks more like Ruhamah KELLER. That's all, I just wanted to pass this along to everyone as a group because there were so many of you who aided in this that to send thank you's individually would have taken quite some time and I've got some Halloween costumes to finish by Tuesday night! Thank you all again for being so kind and helpful, I shall post again when and if I get some confirmation on what the true spelling of her name really was! Take care and God Bless - Deb California _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp

    1. [NJGLOUCE] Thank You - 1880 Census Look Up Please
    2. Deborah Johnson
    3. Hi Everyone - I usually like to thank everyone individually, but, there were just so many willing to help that it would take me awhile! I have gone through them all and am saddened to say that despite all your kindness, none of them are my great great great grandparents. I was going on a lead from a kind lady who has books on the Methodist-Episcopal Churches for that area during the time that my great great grandparents were married, she stumbled across William and Emma as Sunday School teachers from 1875-1879 at a church located mear where my great great grandparents were living during the 1900 census. I should have put that according to the 1900 census, Harry's parents, along with Harry were all born in Delaware, I think I did put that for Harry, just not his parents. I apologize for missing that fact. I do try to give all information. Anyway, if anyone comes across anything with a Harry BENNETT born in May of 1867 in Delaware, or a Ruhanah (sp) KELLER born Feb of 1874 in Ohio, who's mother was born in NJ and father in Germany, please keep me in mind. I do know that as of the 1900 census, Harry and Ruhanah (sp) were living on Ambler Street in Camden and had a baby girl named Ruby, born Feb. 2, 1899, that Harry was an Engineer and a well digger, apparently at that time, the Engineer dug the well also. The story goes that they moved at some point to GouldTown, Fairfield, Twp, NJ (and no, to answer it before it's asked, they were not colored, although GouldTown was a predominantly colored community at the time, hoping I'm being politically correct with my terms here, I do not want to offend anyone). Anyway, Harry apparently died in the 1920's and Ruhanah (sp) remarried, but no one can remember her second husbands last name. They (Harry and Ruhanah (sp)) also had three more children, no idea of any dates: Harry Jr. who married Anna Unknown - no children; Roy - wife unknown - one known son, Roy Jr.; and Bessie who married Ed Morgan - children unknown. Anyway, if anyone should happen to stumble upon this in their searches, please keep me in mind, this family is a huge brick wall for me! Thank you all again for all of your efforts, it is greatly appreciated, no matter how it turned out, please feel free to ask if I can ever be of assistance to anyone! 2. Deborah Johnson
    3. Hi Everyone - I have come across a possible lead for my great great grandfather's parents and was wondering if someone might be kind enough to do a census look up for me. Can someone look and see if there is a listing for a William BENNETT, wife Emma on the 1880 census for Camden, NJ. They would have had atleast one child living with them, my great great grandfather who would have been either 12 or 13 at the time of the census, all depending on when the census took place. Thank you in advance Take care - Deb California _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp
