Dear Nancy: The records you are looking for should be in the Vault at the Hall of Records in Newark. You look up the names in the grantor and grantee indexes (which are in paper format for 1780-1860) and then go look at the deed in the referenced book. -Jodie Lutter In a message dated 9/29/03 11:36:30 AM Eastern Daylight Time, [email protected] writes: > Where are the Deeds and Property records located. Nancy, Essex County deeds from the 1780s through 1860s will also be found on microfilm at the NJ State Archives in Trenton. They should also be available through the LDS Family History Centers. The films are generally good quality reproductions - and they're also easier to copy since you don't have to try to get the big libers positioned correctly on a copier... Happy Hunting Joan Joan M.
