Some time ago I inquired about help & tips on locating my g-grandfather, James Coyne, originally from Roscommon County, IR, and lived in E Orange in Essex. He disappeared after August 1888. I just wanted everyone in similar searches to know that I was in communication from an officer of the Essex Police Dept; I found him on the below pasted website, and he told me that they have no records from the 1880s. All records except homicides are destroyed after 7 to 8 yrs. I think this is terrible, esp with unsolved missing people like James.
