Hello everyone, I just wanted to let you all know that there are still seats available at the Genealogy Conference this Saturday. It is being held in Newark at Rutgers University Center for Law and Justice, with parking available (for a fee) in the university garage next door. The co-sponsors are the Genealogical Society of New Jersey and the New Jersey Historical Society. The feature speaker will be John Colletta, presenting four lectures: Passenger Arrival Records, 1820-1957 (with brief overview of pre-1820 period); Using Newspapers for Family History Research; Discovering Your Ancestors' World through Maps and Gazetteers; and Discovering the Real Stories of Your Immigrant Ancestors. Our other speakers are: John Celardo, the National Archives and Records Administration North East Region; Charles F. Cummings, the New Jersey Division of the Newark Public Library and the Newark Historian; Chad Leinaweaver, the New Jersey Historical Society; Becky Preece, New Jersey State Library; and Joseph Klett, Director of the New Jersey State Archives. There should be contact information there if you have any questions for would like to let us know that you'll be coming and you can pay at the door. I'm not sure lunches can be guaranteed at this late date - but there are many restaurants very nearby. It sounds like a great day's worth of learning opportunities!
