Would some kind soul with access to the 1900 census check for any GRAVENHORST families in NY, NJ or the east coast? Gravenhorst is a relatively uncommon name in the east so any families there will be of interest to me. Particularly looking for George or Paul Gravenhorst of New York State. Also a Helen Gravenhorst of CT or NJ. Is there an indexed 1870 census available? I need information on GRAVENHORST families in 1870 also. Thanks for any help/suggestions. Janice in Canada
Janice, Do you have ages for any of the Gravenhorst? There are quite a few in N.J.alone.Haven't yet checked NJ or CT. Here is one I found with both a Paul and a George. 1910 George Gravenhorst- age 57- born Jan. 1843 in Germany- came to the US in 1864- mechanic Katherine- wife- age 54-born Mar. 1846 in Germany- came to the US in 1848 Elsa K.- daughter- age 24- born Feb. 1876 in NY Fred W, son- age 22- born Feb. 1877 Paul G.- son - age 17- born Mar. 1883 They lived in Brooklyn NY 304 Carlton Ave. Can do better if you have approximate ages for the people you are seeking.
