I've "rescued" an old photograph of Will BRITIAN which was taken at the Klinedinst Studio in Madison, New Jersey. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1890's with Will looking to be in his 40's or 50's at the time. Based on limited research I believe that this may be a photograph of William E. BRITTIAN the son of William J. & Hellen BRITTIAN who were all living in Chatham, NJ during the 1880 census. The family included William J. age 64, Hellen age 50, William E. age 34, Henry age 30, Fred age 27, and Mary E. age 22. All list their place of birth as NJ with William J. listed as a Farmer and William E. as a Farm Laborer. The brothers Henry & Fred are Hardware Merchants and the daughter Mary E. is a Medical Student. I also find information regarding a William BRITTON b. Madison, NJ who married Margaret BAKER in Essex Co. NJ. Though the name is spelled differently I'm wondering if this might be the same person. Another photograph recovered from the same source belongs to the CLARK Family also of Madison, NJ though I've no idea what the relationship might be. I'm hoping to locate someone from Will's family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to the care of family.
