Hi Listers, My name is Carol and I am new to this list. I am trying to find information on Dorothy Weston born abt 1938 and her brother Ned (Edward?) Weston born abt 1940. At that time they were living in Essex Cty NJ. Please bear with me while I try to briefly tell the story. My mother Dorothy Gebicker married Ned Weston Sr when she was about 17. Sadly, he physically abused her (beat) on a daily basis due to his having a very controlling personality. I am being kind as to what my mother actually had to endure. Back in those days a womans back was against the wall. She finally told him she was leaving and taking the children and he told her if she left with the kids he would find the 3 of them and make her watch while he killed the children and then her! She endured many more beatings and finally left. She stayed a couple blocks away and was able to SEE the children from a distance for awhile. There was no further contact. In 1943 my father Charles Stefanik and my mother,Dorothy Gebicker (Weston) married. I have been told that my father Charles forbid my mother to have contact with her children from her previous marriage! I did not learn ANY of this until after the deaths of my parents, Charles and Dorothy. I was hurt and outraged! All I know is the senior Weston married an older woman that raised the children and that little Dorothy married, then divorced because she was being physically abused by her husband. I was told little Dorothy kept in touch with my half/aunt until her divorce and nothing since. It is assumed they were still in NJ. The senior Weston worked as a trash collector for the city, probably Newark. I cannot describe what is in my heart for these 2 children. I have made it my lifes goal from here on to locate them and share with them my mothers story and life, if they are open to it.
