I am looking for more information on Elias GARD(T)NER who married Victoria FOLMER in 1853 in Newark. They lived in Newark until their death which I am still trying to find. Elias and Victoria had 3 sons that I know of. John J, Joseph, and Peter H.(in one Census he went by Henry). I am the from the family of John J. I would love any information on this family. Both Elias and Victoria are suppose to be from Wurtenburg, Germany Thank You, Shirley Rogers
Hi Shirley, In our Woodland Cemetery (Newark) database, I have a Victoria Gartner, date of burial September 27, 1897, and another burial for an Elias Gardner, date of burial November 18, 1902. Victoria was 69y at death and Elias 74y, making them both born around 1828 and, if they are the ones you are looking for, around 25y at marriage. They are not buried together - both are in single graves in different sections of the cemetery. We have a little more information - place of death, exact cemetery location, undertaker, etc.; you can contact me off-list if you would like that information. It sounds like a possible match. It should be easy to confirm with death certificates from the Trenton Archives. If you do confirm, we ask that you help us improve our database by providing us with additional information on the individuals. Thank you. Good luck!
