    3. Bev- There is a marriage between Sarah Morehouse and Aaron Tompkns recorded in Dec 1788 at the First Presbyterian Church at Horse Neck. In 1798 this region was renamed Caldwell Township in honor and memory of Rev. James Caldwell. This marriage is listed in Lockward, Lynn G. "A Puritan Heritage: The First Presbyterian Church in HorseNeck (Caldwell, NJ)", Caldwell, NJ, 1955. p. 423. (Unfortunately this book doesn't have an every name index and this marriage is included in the Appendices." Hope this helps- Bev Crifasi ------------------------------ Message: 3 Date: Tue, 3 Apr 2007 19:33:30 -0400 From: "Beverly Porter" <bporter@comcast.net> Subject: [NJESSEX] {NJEssex} {M} MOREHOUSE, Livingston To: <njessex@rootsweb.com> Message-ID: <010c01c77648$7d2c3300$6401a8c0@Beverly> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Two MOREHOUSE mysteries, probably both in 1789, which I could use help with. 1. Sarah MOREHOUSE was Aaron Tompkins third wife. They are both noted in her father Stephen's 1807 will. But I still can't determine where they were married, i.e. what church, or when. It was probably in 1789, a year before the birth of their first son, Isaac. I've looked at a variety of churches, Hanover etc, but have come up empty. 2. John MOREHOUSE. I think that John MOREHOUSE married Aaron TOMPKINS daughter Elizabeth by his first wife, Hannah Canfield, also in 1789. There was a marriage between a Betsy TOMPKINS and John MOREHOUSE at Hanover Presbyterian church. But how can I check if these two are really mine? Thanks to everyone on this lively list. 3. Bev, Thank you so very, very much. I have been looking for that marriage for a long time! The time frame is perfect and I know that Aaron had property in Caldwell. This is very exciting for me. I will see what I can do to obtain a copy of the Lockwood book. Beverly Fearn Porter ----- Original Message ----- From: "Beverly W.
