Yesterday, while going through a file cabinet looking for old newspaper clippings, I found the original deed (March 18, 1854) to Enos' burial plot at Evergreen Cemetery. The cost was $30 it contained 374 sq ft. On the back written in pencil 4 possible spaces. Interesting, guess I'll call them. Lu __________________________________ Lu-- More later, I hope. But I don't think that Evergreen Cemetery (Hillside, NJ) was founded until ca. 1854. A plot may have purchased that year for your husband's ancestor Enos Woodruff, but it looks like Enos didn't die until later---> 16 Feb 1868 (see summary below). Does that seem possible? Most all of my Elizabeth ancestors & relatives who died after 1853 are also buried at Evergreen. Enos' great-grandfather Timothy Woodruff Jr. (buried First Presbyterian Cemetery, Elizabeth, NJ) was the father of my ancestor Seth Woodruff (1742-1814), and Seth's younger brother Enos Woodruff (1749-1821) was apparently the grandfather of your husband's Enos (husband Jemima Bratten).
