Sorry for the delay in posting my S & T names. I am looking for more information on my Smith ancestors. They are linked to more families - Cahill in Ireland and Bauer in Orange and elsewhere. My second great grandparents were Peter Smith, born in County Cavan Ireland about 1807 - 2 Nov. 1874 when he died in Newark. His wife was Ann Cahill, born in Ireland about 1817 and died in either Newark or Orange on May 22, 1889. I am looking for her Obit. She is buried in Holy Sepluchre Cemetery. The cemetery record shows that the Funeral was from Parrow St. Orange where my g. grandfather Michael Smith lived with his family. The owner of the grave plot was her son-in-law William H. Tamage or Talmadge. Wm. was married to Bridget Smith. They had two sons: George Francis T. born in Newark 7 July 1868 and James Benjamin Tammage also born in Newark on 10 Mar. 1872. On their 1870 federal census page is a listing for the family of Laurence Cahill. I do not know if she is connected to this family but I am trying to find out and I have heard from others before thru this Discussion List. My Smith's lived near Cahill's in Newark on the different Smith family census pages I have found. A surviving son was Michael Smith; born October 1845 - died in Orange on December 11, 1904. He was my great grandfather. One of his sons was my Grandfather Andrew Francis Smith, 18 March 1880 - 15 September 1944. Michael's Smith's youngest daughter was Mary Christina Smith, born 15 Dec. 1891 in Orange. She married Frederick Bauer probably prior to 1915. She had a son also named Fred, 1920-1976, who was my father's first cousin. Looking for any Smith, Cahill, tammage/Talmadge, & Bauer connections. I am willing to share my info. with others connected to me. Thanks, Jack ________________________________________________________________________ AOL now offers free email to everyone.
