    3. Lucy, Thank you for responding to my Tompkins message. I have looked further into the Condit relationship, particularly since a son of Isaac Tompkins married the daughter of another Condit, wife of a Kent. But so far that hasn't helped me with the earlier records. The Cooper relationship is a bit different. Although Elizabeth Cooper was born in New Jersey, her father, Gilbert, came from New York. I have worked his line back another generation or two up there. I try to take a look at any wills and property records I can get hold of or send for. So far I haven't found anything for John Tompkins, although I have had some correspondence. I would love to go to Newark and Trenton to look at some of the materials more directly, but I am not able to travel much at this time. ( How I wish my genealogical interest had sprung up earlier when I was actually living in Trenton!)
