    3. A few more photos have been contributed to my Scotch Plains Bapt. Church Cemetery site. These were shared by Rachel Pincus. If anyone has information on others buried there and/or photos, I'd be happy to upload them to the site. Along with the photos I am also trying to gather biographical information to put with individuals who are buried there. So...if you have data/information that you'd like to share, please let me know. 3. Audrey. Have been reviewing your latest emails with interest. I too have several NJ families who headed west. One was Isaac Grumman, son of a Rev War patriot, who headed west and ended up in Guernsey County OH. Another was a Samuel Drake, who went into Cumberland County (later Mifflin and Huntingdon Counties) PA where he fought during the Rev War. I believe that Samuel was of the Piscataway Drakes but am missing a generation or two that would confirm it. The Grumman family was involved in the Scotch Plains Baptist Church - Ichabod Jr, his wife, brother and a few others left that church in order to found the Lyons Farms Baptist Church. Ichabod, the Rev War patriot, was the first burial at the Lyons Farms Baptist Church but unfortunately, with the expansion of the church, the cemetery disappeared. It also appears that you and I are cousins on several lines - Riggs/Miller (I come from another child of Samuel Miller - whose headstone is still extant at the Elizabethtown Presby Church; the Winans (my line is Susannah m Cornelius Melyn). I also have an Ensey family who originated in MD, I believe in Frederick County - but am having problems with finding information. Do you have any information on the 1700s and 1800s of your Ensey family? That's all for now. I work for H&R Block during tax season so am largely incommunicado - now trying to catch up on my correspondence and will try to post my names on the website, albeit out of alphabatetical order (sorry Shawn). I come from a number of families who founded CT and Long Island and then moved down to found Neward and Elizabethtown NJ. And I come from the Bratton line that ties into the Woodruffs of Lucie and John - my great grandfather was a brother of Jemima Bratton Woodruff. Later . . . 1. [NJESSEX] VREELAND in Rahway Cemetery
    2. Michael W. Freeland
    3. My ancestor, Phebe Vreeland, reportedly is buried in the Rahway Cemetery. The transcriptions done in the 1950s and now posted on David Kane's website list the following entry: Phebe, Husb. Aaron Vreeland, b. 30 Sept. 1770, d. 17 June 1827. http://www.westfieldnjhistory.com/files/rahwaycem.htm My problem is that I have not been able to find any evidence of this grave other than the recorded transcription. The elderly lady who zealously guards the Rahway Cemetery records charged me $25 to do a search of the records for Phebe Vreeland, and reported that the records are incomplete and she could not find any burial record for Phebe Vreeland (she would not let me examine the records myself, and said that they were kept offsite). I have walked the cemetery pretty extensively and did not find Phebe's tombstone. I talked to various workers at the cemetery, and found no one who could remember seeing Phebe's tombstone. Can anyone help? Michael W. Freeland

    3. Hi Michael, You might be able to find a copy of the cemetery records or other records for her at the local historical society or the local history research room at the library closest to the cemetery. Some libraries have copies of different cemetery records. If they don't think they have that one still go and just start looking on the shelves in the research room. You may find other info on her in different resources. Because she died in 1827 I would start in the historical society. If she ever had a headstone it maybe two warn down to read or buried under years of dirt. I hope this helps. Just a note when looking for her dont rule out odd spelling or looking for the husband sometimes the person doing the transcribling had a hard time reading the writing. Again I hope this helps.
