Hello Essex Researchers, I have to put in my two cents regarding the Latter-Day-Saints' Family History Centers. It would be a shame for people to be scared away from at least checking them out. They are a wealth of information once you know your way around. I spent the better part of a week's vacation at the main FHC in Los Angeles back in Feb. 1997 and they treated me like family. This was my first visit to any FHC and I had no idea what I was doing. They couldn't have been more helpful in teaching me the ropes. They will not do your research for you, though. I find the FHC near where I live in Largo, FL to be friendly and courteous, but not necessarily as helpful. I think the thing we need to keep in mind is that these folks are volunteers and may not be especially proficient researchers themselves. It seems to me that some of them are more or less doing a secretarial function. Best regards to all. Liz France Searching JACOB in Newark, NJ
