    3. Hi Sharon, >I am trying to find any information on Andrew HAMPTON and his wife Margaret >CUMMIN. >I found on the internet, that Andrew was a brother to John HAMPTON. In the book "As We Were: The Story of Elizabethtown" by Theodore Thayer There are almost two complete pages dedicated to Jonathan HAMPTON. "Jonathan HAMPTON was an Episcopalian, the grandson of Andrew, a Scotch Quaker who came to Elizabethtown and built a brick house in 1696 which became the parsonage for St. John's after 1749. Part of the building is still standing. Jonathan established the first Masonic Temple in Elizabethtown in 1762 and became the first master. Although he was a surveyor and land speculator he owned a prosperous coach & harnessmaking business." If you can't find a copy of this book, I am on Books We Own and will be glad to photocopy the pages (another has 2 pictures of the Parsonage) and send them to you.
