With all this discussion of Jonathan Hampton, I thought I'd try to get my mystery solved. I have a marriage record for a Jonathan Hampton to Elizabeth Bird, 1 Feb 1740. Later there is a will for a Jonathan Hampton dated 1745 in which he mentions his wife Elizabeth and son-in-law John Bird. I was trying to find out if Elizabeth Bird was the widow of Joseph Bird, and "son-in law" really meant "step-son". Does anyone have any information on this Jonathan Hampton?
