    3. I grew up in Harrison, Kearny, and East Newark. One of the sarcastic remarks about Harrison was that it held the Guinness World Record for most bars/taverns per square mile. There were a lot of drinking establishments and a considerable number continue to conduct business to this day. I followed the lead of several of my peers back then. As a kid, I nailed some boards together, purchased some shoe cleaning supplies and polish, and made a few bucks going from bar to bar, shining shoes. Christmas was an especially lucrative time. BTW: The street is named Harrison Avenue.
