Massa was also listed as a communicant (new Member) in 1780. Now we are looking for the correct William MILLER out of at least four that are listed in the "NJ Rateables, 1778-1780, Elizabeth Twp., Westfield Ward" by Ken Stryker-Rodda. A leading contender seems to be William MILLER 3rd, listed in grave 476, died 8 Apr 1780 at 37 yrs, in "Inscriptions from the Cemetery of the Presbyterian Church at Westfield in NJ" as copied from tombstones in 1899 by George W. Thomas. Identical information plus a birth date of 1743 is in "The Revolutionary Cemetary in Westfield NJ" by Henry C. Hamilton, D.D.S., June 1975. This record is attributed to "GSA Veterans Records". If this was Massa's husband, her action to join the the church and have the family baptized in September after his untimely death in April is certainly understandable. Questions: 1. Is the "Revolutionary Cemetary" a part of, or also known as the "Westfield Presbyterian Church Cemetary"?. 2. Where can I obtain additional information from "GSA Veterans Records"?. 3. Does anyone have any information to share about these MILLERS?. 4. Can anyone help to sort out the William, Wm.jr, Wm.3rd, and Wm.4th MILLERS in the 1778-1780 rateables?. 5. I have a copy of "The NJ Genesis", Vol.9, No.1, Oct 1961, pp348, discussing the MILLER family of Union and Morris, and corrections to Littell's genealogy of William MILLER of Elizabethtown, NJ, died 1711. Is there any connection to the MILLERS of Westfield that anyone can share?. Thanks, Dan Miller North TX >> Answer No. 1 is Yes, it's the same one. Answer No. 3. There is a lost cemetery in Westfield called the Miller-Roll Cemetery. It took me 3 months of intense research, but I found it in someones backyard.
