I recently went through the 1910 census looking for orphanages in hopes of locating my husband's great grandmother. Unfortunately many of the lists were illegible but I think that I may have found her in St. Mary's Orphanage. In any case, I photocopied the lists for the Newark Orphan Aslyum and for St. Peter's Orphan Asylum. The St. Mary's list was barely legible on the microfilm reader, and not legible at all on the photocopy. If anyone would like me to look through the lists for the Newark or St. Peter's Orphan Asylums to check for ancestors I would be happy to do that. The census gives the name, age and sex of the orphan, and in some cases where the orphan and his/her parents were born. Please email me directly with the name of the orphan, and some idea of his/her age. I'll let you know what I find. Laura
