Thank you, Connie I wrote to the following address: Essex County Records 465 Martin Luther King Blvd Newark NJ 07102 As I understand it, they have the naturalization records for Essex County from 1840 to 1930. I asked for records on my g.g.grandfather, Theodor Sonnekalb, & gave them a range of years from 1850 to 1870. I also asked for copies of Frederick Sonnekalb's papers (Theodor's possible father) & ANY OTHER SONNEKALBS. In return, within a matter of weeks, I received a listing of all Sonnekalb filings, which ranged in dates from 1851 to 1886. I was then able to send for papers on my g.g.grandfather, his possible father, & three of his possible brothers. Although the information contained in the papers was scarce, I was still most pleased.
