    3. Greetings! I've been lurking for quite some time and have enjoyed the collective spirit. I finally have enough time to add my measley crumbs! I'm researching my grandfather's father, Charles BROCK, living in Newark, NJ. He was born November 1866 or 1867 and died 2 April 1899. He married Lydia Augusta SOMMER and they had one child, my grandfather, Frederick William BROCK. He joined the Newark police department in 1894. Lydia and Frederick moved to California after Charles died. The death certificate lists his birthplace as NJ and Rudolph and Ida BROCK as his parents, both from Germany. I think I found him in the 1870 Federal Census with parents Frederick and Julia BROCK and again in 1880 with parents and brothers Walter, Hugo, and Max. The 1885 NJ State Census lists Frederick, Julia, Charles, Walter, Hugo, Max, Emma, and Fred. The 1895 NJ State lists Walter, Hugo, Max, and Frederick. Any and all help would be appreciated. Advice and suggestions would be welcome! Bill Zeigler San Diego, CA wzeigler@home.com
