I know they have the Birth Records and Marriage Records back to about 1850 and maybe somewhat previously. I was able to find my GGrandfather Isaac Jacobus Van Ness and his Brother and Sisters in the Orange Township Birth records recorded between 1858 and 1867. I was not able to find a record of my GGGrandparents Austin Van Ness and Caroline R. Jacobus's marriage between 1850 and 1858. While I am sending this to the whole list, let me repeat MY query. I am searching for information on the parents of Austin Van Ness. He was born in New Jersey about 1830. My first record of him is on the 1850 Essex Co. Caldwell Township Census with an age of 19, living with another carpenter's family. Family lore has it that he was an orphan, but I have NO proof of that. I am also searching for information on Austin's children Edwin S. Van Ness born 1858, Harriet E. Van Ness born 1863, and Rachel Cornelia born 1867 in Orange Township, Essex Co., NJ. I have tracked this family through the 1880 census of Orange, but I have found no record of the family after that except for my GGrandfather, Isaac Jacobus Van Ness. Thanks to Reeve Jacobus, I have some information on the Ancestors of Caroline R. Jacobus. I am willing to share the information I have. Thank you, Thomas E.
