Wilson, I don't know if he's any relation, but I ran across a census enumerator named Jeremiah DeCamp. He was an enumerator in Newark in 1880, and I happened to find him when going through the 1870 census page by page. His occupation was something like Coal Deliverer. I just thought it was interesting and the name stuck in my head. If you think this will help you, I can look up the ward I found him in (it was the same as my relatives). I have the info in my files.
