My grandmother left me some genealogical information on the family stating that her grandmother was Margaret Hurts. Margaret and her husband, Joseph C. Hoff apparently married in the early 1800's in Hunterdon Co, NJ. I have never been able to find a "Hurts" family in that area so I believe the name was spelled differently. The obvious to me would be the German spelling Hertz/Haertz but is there a Dutch name that would be similar. Joseph C. Hoff and his wife, Margaret Hurts lived in Newark circa 1875.
