Dear List Members, I would be greatful for any assistance or information on the Surnames in the Subject Line. I have been researching my husbands'ancestors for over a year. I have seen these surnames on this list,but did not know that we were in their line! I started with my husbands'g-grandfather,George Washington CAIN, born July 29,1835 and died 1901 in Springfield,NJ.He married Harriet Parker HOFFMAN,B.Dec.2,1838 in German Valley,Morris County.She died Springfield,NJ,1927;they both are buried in the Springfield Presbyterian Cemetery. George W.Cain,1835 was the son of Joseph CAIN,b.1794 and Polly(Mary)SAYRE, born abt 1795.They married July 14,1832 in Essex County,N.J.Joseph CAIN was a Veteran of the War of 1812 and had a pension. SAYRE---Polly Mary Sayre CAIN,b.1795 was the daug.of Brooks SAYRE and Polly CONKLIN,Brooks was the s/oIsaac SAYRE,Jr. and Elizabeth ROLL.They lived in the mountains southwest of Springfield,NJ;where his father Isaac SAYRE and his mother Jane SWAINE,d/o Matthais SWAINE lived. Brooks SAYRE and Polly CONKLIN SAYRE had the following children: Elizabeth,who married Henry FAITOUTE William Mary"Polly" ,who married Joseph KAIN(sic),a carpenter of Somerville! Isaac Hannah Brooks SAYRE,Jr. I would like to hear from anyone researching these ancestors;so that I may find more information on them. Does anyone have the parents of Joseph CAIN??? The children of Joseph CAIN and Polly"Mary" SAYRE were.: Joseph Jr.,b.abt 1833 Margaret,b.abt 1834 and married David Kennedy in Somerset County George,b.1836...my husband's g-grandfather Kennedy M.,b.abt 1838 Bryan R.,b.abt 1840 Jammes B. b.abt 1843 Henry,b.abt 1846 William,b.abt 1849 (These last 2 children could be grandchildren;as Mary would be in her 50's)They were listed as living in Joseph's house in the 1850 census. Joseph CAIN was a farmer in Somerset Co. in the 1850 US Census. He died Aug 1866 and Mary died 1893.Both in Somerset Co.as per their Wills. Joseph mentioned HIS son Theodore as his executor,When was he born? And Mary lived with a daughter Susan Adalaide with whom she lived in 1891. Does anyone have information on these children?
