I wonder if someone will be able to help me. My great great grandfather Rev. Charles W. Rogers, died in Belleville on Mar. 9, 1880. His obituary states that friends and relatives and members of the Halsey and Eight Avenue M & E Churches were invited to attend the funeral from his late residence on the old road to Bloomfield. I am wondering if these churches still exist and would they have any records pertaining to the congregation? I also wrote to the NJ Dept. of Health and Senior Services, Vital Statistics trying to obtain a certificate of his death. I had the exact date of death, his age, the date of burial at Fairmount Cemetery. I received back a “NO RECORD CERTIFICATION”. I sent the request in again, with more information and got the same response. Could someone tell me what I can do next? Thanks for any help you can give, Joann Girard Jagirard@aol.com
