I am planning a trip to New Jersey in June. My GGGrandparents from there, Austin Van Ness and Caroline R. Jacobus were born about 1830 or 1831. I found them on the 1850 census in Caldwell Township. The LDS have a marriage record for Austin and a Catharine R. Jacobus, for which I am currently awaiting the microfilm. I suspect they were married at Caldwell Presbyterian, but I won't be sure until I find the record. I was planning on spending one day at the archives in Trenton and one day in Essex Co. Does anyone have suggestions as to the most likely place(s) to find information on Austin Van Ness in Essex Co. I understand there is a good library in Cedar Grove, but I lack a knowledge of the geography to even know if that is in the Caldwell Twnshp area. HELP! Thank you, Thomas E.
