Hello EC Researchers, I'd like to inform everyone how to access the TWO archives for the Essex County mailing list. The first archives is the one that has been in use for quite some time. Go to the following URL and type in "NJESSEX". <http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl> This will bring you to the page where you can select the year you want searched and input your query words. Years available are 1996, 1997, 1998, & 1999. The second archive is the newest one, the threaded archives. Go to the following URL and click on "NJESSEX-L". <http://archiver.rootsweb.com/archives-bin/list> If you haven't visited the site before you will be asked to create a username and a password. Once you do this you will be able to access the archives. Once there you can follow the directions to find what you want. The threaded archives were created last month so it only starts with April of 1999. There is the possibility that these archives will be retro fitted with posts previous to April, 1999 but nothing is firm yet. Since this is a new system please be patient with it. I'd like to stress two things. First, as it has always been, a message CANNOT be removed from the archives. Once you post it, it is there for eternity. Secondly, and I can not stress this more, is to CHANGE the SUBJECT LINE when you CHANGE the SUBJECT! Do not just hit reply, leave the subject line and post a new message and do not leave the subject line blank. If you are using the digest mode, PLEASE make sure you have a meaningful subject line when you reply and not leave the digest subject line. For the sake of continuity of the new threaded archives I will be sending everyone who doesn't change the subject line a friendly reminder via their personal email. Lastly and most important, if you have any questions please send them to me via my personal email address and not to the mailing list. Thank You, Glenn G.
