    3. Hello ECRs, I've added a new section to Virtual Newark, it's called "8th New Jersey Volunteers". The 8th New Jersey Volunteers were from the Civil War and the majority of them were mustered out of Newark. The new section consists of reprints of "THE CAMP MATTAWOMAN GAZETTE", a monthly newsletter that uncovers the history of the Eighth New Jersey Regiment. Currently there are only newsletters from July & August but I'll have the first 6 on line and then they will appear month by month as they are published by Gilbert V. Riddle. Please do not email Mr. Riddle with surname query requests, his time restraints on researching & publishing these newsletters only allow him to reply to ones that inquire about the unit as a whole. Also, Mr. Riddle lives in NC and has been affected by the recent storms, so he is unavailable to answer any questions about the unit for about the next month or so. Please direct any questions to me. "THE CAMP MATTAWOMAN GAZETTE" offers an insight into the unit and it's members including sections dealing with how the soldiers died (individual names) and the army hospital in Newark. Please be aware that the on line search capabilities of Virtual Newark (Search this Site) have a lag time of approx. 10 days from the time that I put a web page on line until it shows up in the keyword search. So as I put the new editions on line (or any other new page for that matter), they won't appear in the search engine for 10 days. Thank You, --------- Glenn G. Geisheimer, Iselin, New Jersey: germanic42@home.com If I've been able to point you in a direction, please email me with your results so that I may help other researchers.
