    1. [NJESSEX] Roman Catholic Church Records
    2. Hi Estelle, The church records you are asking about can be obtained where the event (birth, marriage, burial) occurred. If you know the date when any event occurred, it would help in locating the records. If the church has its own cemetery, and you know the date of burial, you can find out from it the approximate date of death. After you have the DOD, you can write to the bureau of Vital Statistics in Trenton and they can provide you with a copy of the death certificate for a small fee. Another source of the same records is Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ The archives division is 973-761-9476. Seton Hall is a Catholic University which is the depository for church records for ESSEX County. Do not expect a quick answer from Seton Hall as they are swamped with requests for searches of records. I am waiting for a reply from Seton Hall which I made about 6 weeks ago. Good Luck.
