Hi Folks, Thanks to everyone who answered. I tried to respond to each of you individually, but with the question being posted to five mailing lists, the response was simply too great. The general consensus seems to indicate that "Squire" was a given name for the Boone family, but can also be used as a title (i.e. Esquire). To those on the Nelson County, KY, mailing list - I'm up to page 267 on the book and still typing my fingers off re-creating the index.
