Hello Laura, Woodbridge was never in Essex County, it has always been in Middlesex County EXCEPT prior to 1683 when there was no Essex or Middlesex Counties, only The Province of East Jersey, which both present day counties were a part of. Elizabeth Borough is the same as Elizabethtown, which is the same as Elizabeth. That present day city was in Essex County until 1857 when Union County was formed from Essex County. Rahway is in Union County (see time period above). It is the next town north of Woodbridge Township (which, of course is in Middlesex County) >I have 3 more listings in my Hatfield line for Woodbridge of Essex Co.
