I am trying to find the parents of my ancestors Lawrence & Hannah (VAN WINKLE) THORN. Lawrence and Hannah married in Benton, Yates Co., NY in 1835, but according to census records they were both born in NJ, and Hannah had her first child, born in 1836 in NJ so I think she may have gone home to her family for the birth. The only 2 counties in NJ in 1830 that list both THORN and VAN WINKLE familes are Middlesex and Essex - am hoping someone out there can help as this is one of my brick walls!! Also, my mom thinks the Thorns were Quakers. Thanks, Kari Northup
