I just had to add to the horror stories because it cannot be stressed enough that one must be extremely careful when visiting cemeteries in Newark (is it this bad in other cities?). We, too, had a horrible experience (in 1989) at Fairmount. We had just picked up our rental car at the airport and drove to the cemetery to visit the "BURSCH" plot. We filmed (video camera) for a few minutes, then locked the camera and my purse in the car, while we went for a 5 min walk. We came back to a vandalized car--purse and video camera stolen--it was that fast! Obviously we had been watched. Anyway, the security guard at Fairmount and Newark Police were not at all surprised; said that we were lucky we weren't killed! So sad...
