I am seeking information on BARNETTs from the Newark, Essex County, NJ area, from the late 1700s to the mid 1800s. The BARNETTs I know about are described below, but I am interested learning about earlier BARNETTs from that area that may have been ancestors -- kind of trying to form a link by working from both ends. My BARNETTs start with David BARNETT and sons, John and William, living in Newark, NJ in the early 1820s. William went to MA and married Nancy Wheeler in 1826 in Medway. Daughter Anna was born 1827 in NJ. Son Henry was born 1831, daughter Matilda born 1833, and William born 1837, all in MA. By 1840, the family was back in NJ with a 3rd child, George AC, born 1839 in Rahway, NJ. Matilda returned to Boston and never married. Anna, Henry, and Warren are mysteries. William and George served together in the Civil War in Hawkin's Zouaves. William was killed in action, but George survived and had a long life as an attorney in New York City. He died in 1914, and was my great-grandfather. Also seeking other relatives, Oliver Barnett and son Edward, who lived in NY and NJ around 1850-1910. Anyone connect? Any suggestions? Thanks.
