    1. "Relict" on tombstone
    2. Could someone fill me in on the term "relict" on a tombstone. This is how it is used. "Sacred to the Memory of Mary Haines Relict of Elias Haines. Daughter of Robert Ogden. Born July 3, 1778 - Died May 5, 1852." Is this another way of saying of saying wife? I have never heard the term. This is from a tombstone in the First Presbyterian Churchyard in Elizabeth, NJ. I have seen this on several markers. Joann in Detroit

    3. I am aware of a Riker Hill in Livingston, New Jersey, in Essex County (see URL below). I don't know the origins of that name, but perhaps the Livingston Historical Society has information about the Riker name. I don't believe they have a phone or museum and I don't have their address at home. I do have it at our museum and you are welcome to e-mail me for more information about that. There is an art park at Riker Hill and I found a Web site that might be of interest: http://co.essex.nj.us/riker.htm Lynne Ranieri Millburn-Short Hills Historical Society DReece1952@aol.com wrote: > > I am seraching for any information on Rikers in NJ throughout the 1800s. > > I am a descendant of Elizabeth Riker and George Lovelace m 1872 in Newark NJ, > daughter of George and Elizabeth Riker.
