Dear Dennis: My new webpage at http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~birdnj has some info on Jasper and William. Also, I'm in the middle of the 1920 census index and just came across Jasper. Here's what it had: Jasper, age 45 birthplace NJ Newark, 42 1/2 Third St. Bird, Eleanor Wife age 38 Ireland Bird, John R. Son 10 NJ Waters, Julia "L" in relationship column age 43 Ireland. The census reference is; vol 46 ED 271 sheet 11 line 97. I can snail-mail you the copy ( as well as the rest of your family for 1900 & 1920) if you like. I also have both James W's for 1900 and 1920. I have a copy of DAR application from 1935. It lists as follows: Simeon WILLIAMS (b.after 1758 d.after 1826). Married Mary SMITH. Their daughter, Dorcas WILLIAMS (1783-1860), married Daniel CORBY (1783-1855). Their daughter, Phoebe CORBY (1822-1875) married John SAYRE (1814-1886). They had a daughter, Margaret SAYRE (1841-1909). A will indicates that there was also another daughter, Ella SAYRE. I have not yet verified any of the above information. My ggrandmother, Amelia (Emilie) SAYRE is related to these Sayres but I have not yet figured out the relationship. I would appreciate any information on the above people.
I was wondering if any of you kind folks have a Willie Bird born abt. 1873 or a Jasper Bird born abt. 1876. they are list as living at 136 Sheffield Street. This seems to have been a multi-family dwelling. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Have a great day, Dennis F. Bird ird
I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to tell what Ward Sheffield Street would have been in during the 1880 census. I need the information so I can get the right film for the next census. Thank you in advance. Dennis F. Bird ird

I want to ask those who are researching the CORBY name in Caldwell, NJ if they have any information on a Harriet CORBY who married a William WHEATON/WHEDON in 1821. (probably in Caldwell area) According to the Charles Carroll Gardner Collection at Rutgers, William WHEATON (abt 1740-1750) married first wife Martha Martin (b 1753 d179?) and then Harriet Corby in 1821. Children of William & Martha MARTIN were Bethuel, b Nov 19 1773 Phebe, b Apr 28 1775 Elizabeth, b Oct 6 1776 Mary, b Nov 18 1778 Rachel, b Jul 31 1780, d Sep 20 1853, m William Davis Lydia, b Jan 22 1782 William, Oct 6 1783 Cyrenus, b Jan ? 1778? Silas, b ? Lety, b ? Naomi, b ? Emma, b Nov 4 1792 Squire, b June 17 1796, d Jan 27 1864, m Mercy/Marcy Jacobus in Caldwell Presbyterian Church on Jul 8 1821 according to church records. If the names WHEATON, CORBY, MARTIN, JACOBUS from Caldwell, NJ appear in your database, I would like to share information with you, as I am trying to determine who William's parents were. Willard E. Trying to track down descendants of a James Francis Farrell born in 1868 in Newark and a Joseph Farrell born in 1873, who were brothers and born to a Mary Selby and Lawrence Farrell. They had many other brothers and 1 sister but these are the two elusive brothers. Thanks for any help. Judy in NC
>Hi- I have been working on a database of Caldwell families, so I have a Hi Beverly, I would be most interested to know what you have on the HARRISON family. I started with the Connecticut HARRISONs (New Haven>Branford, then some to Cornwall, some to Mass, some to NY). For the past few months I've been working on the branch that went to New Jersey (Newark), then to the surrounding Essex Co. areas. Patricia Harrison JKAA97A@prodigy.com
Iris- Bev did a good job of listing all those Caldwell Corbys. I have Lynn G. Lockward's "A Puritan Heritage: The First Presbyterian Church in Horseneck- Caldwell N.J.-" You might be interested to know that Yehoncris' name is written Yehon Criss Corby in the 1826 list of the Church's "Notes for Wood" (those who owed cash to pay for the heating wood.) I don't believe Bev mentiond the Sept. 2,1813 marriage of Abijah Corby and and Sally Condit. Elaine- According to the church records in the above book, John Nafie and Metilda Corby were married Dec. 20, 1806. The only other Nafie is Dec 25, 1819- married Richard Naffee and Sally Sysco. This book appears to have the old church records incorporated in it. I do not see any of Iris' Corbys or any Nafies in the baptisms or Burying Ground records. My interest in Caldwell is my great great great grandmother, Hannah Crane, who married Samuel MOORE. He is the mystery man. Muriel S.
