    3. With all this discussion of Jonathan Hampton, I thought I'd try to get my mystery solved. I have a marriage record for a Jonathan Hampton to Elizabeth Bird, 1 Feb 1740. Later there is a will for a Jonathan Hampton dated 1745 in which he mentions his wife Elizabeth and son-in-law John Bird. I was trying to find out if Elizabeth Bird was the widow of Joseph Bird, and "son-in law" really meant "step-son". Does anyone have any information on this Jonathan Hampton? Thanks, Judy === Judy Jamieson Pisano jupisano@yahoo.com "The Bird Families of New Jersey" <http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~birdnj> _____________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? 3. Hi Sharon, >I am trying to find any information on Andrew HAMPTON and his wife Margaret >CUMMIN. >I found on the internet, that Andrew was a brother to John HAMPTON. In the book "As We Were: The Story of Elizabethtown" by Theodore Thayer There are almost two complete pages dedicated to Jonathan HAMPTON. "Jonathan HAMPTON was an Episcopalian, the grandson of Andrew, a Scotch Quaker who came to Elizabethtown and built a brick house in 1696 which became the parsonage for St. John's after 1749. Part of the building is still standing. Jonathan established the first Masonic Temple in Elizabethtown in 1762 and became the first master. Although he was a surveyor and land speculator he owned a prosperous coach & harnessmaking business." If you can't find a copy of this book, I am on Books We Own and will be glad to photocopy the pages (another has 2 pictures of the Parsonage) and send them to you. 3. Hello, I am hoping that someone could help me! I am trying to find any information on Andrew HAMPTON and his wife Margaret CUMMIN. I found on the internet, that Andrew was a brother to John HAMPTON. Also, that Andrew left a will in 1738 in Elizabeth Town, county of Essex, Province of East New Jersey. he mentions his wife Margaret and children, John, Andrew, Margaret HAmpton, Johannah, Lambert, Elizabth Oliver, grandson Jonathan Hampton, son of James deceased, granson Issac Terrill, son of Mary deceased. Eldest son Thomas got only 20 shillings. There was suppose to be a house on Pearl Street in Elizabeth, New Jersey, built in 1696/97 by Andrew HAMPTON and his wife Margaret CUMMIN. Would anyone happen to know if this is true, or how I could go about finding out? Also, how can I obtain a copy of Andrews Will? Any information on the HAMPTONs and CUMMINs family would be very appreciated! Thank you all!! Sharon

    1. Naturalization lookup
    2. Steve
    3. Hello ECR's, I have managed to get the LDS film containing the indexes to the New York Court of common Pleas - Naturalization records 1791 - 1906 for the surnames between Vogel and Walsh (film 1002414), also Declarations of Intent (film 0953897) If anyone wants me to do a lookup for them please send the details to me and I will see what I can do. However, I do ask the following 1. You MUST look at the URL's below just so you are aware of what is covered by these films. Go to http://www.familysearch.org/Search/searchcatalog.asp click on "All searches" then on the next web page click on "Film/Fiche search" then on the next webpage type in the above film numbers. 2. Please be very specific about the name you are researching (first and last names). 3. No wild goose chases please. I have to manually search through this film which will take a fair time to do, so please be considerate and do not ask me to do a search unless you have some definite details about the name. 4. Please forward requests within the next few days. I hope the above doesn't sound too negative, however it does need to be said so I do not waste my time unnecessarily. Glad to help! Regards, Steve (Australia)

    1. Holy Sepulchre Lookup
    2. Doug & Dru Beesley
    3. Hi fellow ECR's! I have a major (at least it is to me!) request that one of you may be able to help me with. I am searching for my gggrandfather's date of death (and birth). I know he is buried at Holy Sepulchre - I even know the exact gravesite - but the LDS records for some reason do not have him listed with the rest of the family. I called Holy Sepulchre, but they were not helpful at all - in fact, they were downright rude - except to tell me he's buried in the same lot as his wife. Is there anyone who could help me by swinging by the cemetary and looking at the dates for me?? PLEASE???? This would break through a MAJOR brick wall for me. If you are able to do this, please email me back and I'll be happy to send you all the pertinant information. Thanks in advance!!! Dru Beesley dbeesley@iol15.com

    1. New to the list
    2. John Cresseveur
    3. Hi Folks, I'm new to the list, but not to Essex County. I've been involved in entering names for Woodland Cemetery in Newark for many months now under the coordination of Mary Lish http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~geishome/cemeteries/woodland.htm . I've personally entered over 15,400 burial listings, have about 1,800 on my desk, and more ledgers are in the mail from Mary. Additionally, I've been involved with Brianne Kelly-Bly, entering biographies for Morris County, NJ, where another portion of my family came from http://www.rootsweb.com/~njmorris/ While I have lived in Kentucky for the past 18 years, the first 32 years of my life were spent in Englewood, NJ, and portions of the family date to the 1750's in New Jersey. For Newark, the family dates to 1868 when my great-grandfather, Joseph Emil CRESSEVEUR, arrived from France. In the Essex County area I'm searching for CRESSEVEUR, TILL, CADMUS, and GALLAGHER. Anyone else searching the same names? John Cresseveur - Kentucky
