Be patient. It took me two trys and a six week wait for them to send me the correct form on which to make my request, and another six weeks, at least, for the birth certificate to arrive. They are very slow. Meredith Sorozan wrote: > > Does anyone know how long it takes to get records from the Dept. of Vital > Records? Hi, It usually takes about 8 weeks but they are very helpful. I sent for a birth certificate from 1867. They didn't have a birth certificate but sent a copy from the Newark Diocesan Archives that gave me not only the birth information I wanted but information about 5 siblings (date of birth, church of baptism and the FHL number). Also, if you are requesting information I don't use a form. I simply give the name, possible date and parent's information. It worked every time so far. Rita PS It is summertime and people are on vacation.
Does anyone know how long it takes to get records from the Dept. of Vital Records? I sent my request and a money order for the correct amount, etc., several weeks ago and I have heard nothing. Will it be much longer? Thanks, Meredith Sorozan

Hello Betsy, I would try working from the marriage listing for the parents names. After that I would try church records. There are some census lookups available from the Essex County Genealogy Lookup page: <http://www.rootsweb.com/~njessex/alpha/lookups.htm> Good Luck, >Have been trying to locate parents of DEBORAH DECKER b.Sept 13, 1830. >Married Daniel Harrison CONDIT July, 14, 1851 in Clinton Township, Essex NJ. >She died in 1869. > >Does anyone have access to census index for 1830, 1840, 0r 1850 that might >be willing to look for Deckers in Clinton, Fairfield or Orange? Have been trying to locate parents of DEBORAH DECKER b.Sept 13, 1830. Married Daniel Harrison CONDIT July, 14, 1851 in Clinton Township, Essex NJ. She died in 1869. Does anyone have access to census index for 1830, 1840, 0r 1850 that might be willing to look for Deckers in Clinton, Fairfield or Orange? I don't have a male name as even a guess for her father, as she and Daniel had all daughters.... If this fails, what would be a good newspaper to try for an obit in Orange, in 1869? Thanks in advance Betsy Rubel beharu@mediaone.net
I am in possession of a (circa 1842?) handwritten will for James Lindsley of South Orange in Essex County NJ. It bequeaths shares of his estate to his brothers Isaac, Joseph, and Abraham, as well as to Jonathan and Elizabeth, children of his deceased brother Elbert Lindsley. It also mentions gifts to nephew Joseph Harris Lindsley and to a niece Nettie Lindsley, daughter of Harris B Lindsley. It mentions the "homestead place" of his father Jonathan Lindsley, his brother Harris B Lindsley of Pomona in Tennessee and his friend David S Smith of Clinton, Essex Co, NJ. I also have a copy of a similar handwritten will for Jonathan Lindsley of Clinton Twp (dated Feb 22, 1842) If anyone has interest in the precise text, please contact me and I will forward the text. The Newark Public Library had the 1929 obituary of my grandmother. Are there any clues I can follow up? It reads: Hesson- on May 16,1929 Winifred T. Boyle, beloved wife of James J. Hesson-relatives and friends, also members of Court Seton No 72, Catholic Daughters of America, are invited to attend the funeral from the residence of her sister, Mrs. Herman Jehle, 77 Pomona Ave, on Monday May ? at 9A.M. to St. Charles Borromeo's where a high mass of requiem will be offered for the repose of her soul. Internment Holy Cross Cemetery.
Hi all! I have the older version of FTM. Is there a way I can get my descendant chart from FTM to my web page? If not, does anyone know how I can get my descendant chart onto my web page keeping in mind I am the dummy they wrote "Computers For Dummies" for. Thanks in advance. Jeannine/Pittsburgh

I didn't recognize the email address right away. I sure would love to find a publication that lists the Enumeration Districts for each county. It would make it easy to determine which microfilm roll I have to acquire. No one has responded to my request, yet. Either they don't know, or they are off for the weekend.
