Wilson, George and Kevin, Thanks for the helpful information. Kevin, I don't know whose will I am looking for. All I know is Holden WRIGHT, b. 1792-1794 NJ, and Moses WRIGHT b. 1795 NJ were brothers. Moses WRIGHT was in Essex County, NJ at least by 1830. He married Hannah EDWARDS. They had several children. Moses died in 1859, leaving his wife and I think 3 daughters and 2 sons. His daughter Hannah seems to have died about 1854 and son Joseph is supposed to have died in Texas between the 1850 and 1860 censuses. Holden went to Mississippi [by Feb. 1822] and married in Wilkinson County in Sept. 1822. By 1827 he and his family were in Louisiana where many of his living descendants still live. I know their father died after 1812 because Moses "enlisted [War of 1812] at Newark" and continued to serve for about 4 months. "He was then taken from the Service by his Father being under age." Quotes are from the bounty land warrant of Moses WRIGHT. He enlisted and served later. I have not been able to find a marriage between a WRIGHT and a HOLDEN. The only name in common for the children of Holden and Moses is John. The nearest LDS center is an hour and a half away. "Father" WRIGHT was probably born at the latest about 1772 and he probably did not live much past 1852. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated. Nancy Lowrie Wright in Louisiana
The probate and wills are available at the State archives in Trenton and on microfilm in a number of locations, including the LDS library at Salt Lake City. Abstracts of the wills are in large books available in Trenton and SLC. Ancestry.com has the records only up to 1760. I wish they would put up the rest. More information is available in "Orphans' Court" documents. If a father died, leaving underage children, they were technically "orphans" and provision had to be made to protect their inheritance. These records are available in Trenton.
Where would I find Wills and/or Probate records for the time period 1812 to 1855? Would they be filed in the county or at the State Archives? Is there a master index including all counties for them? Nancy Wright in Louisiana
I would like to add my Thank You to George, He is most helpful. Jackie - Former Livingstonite in California
I have sent a thank you to George many times. George has helped me many times. Thank You again for all your help. Bruce Smith Eustis, Florida
George , Stand up and take another bow - thanks for the missing link that connected Justus and August MEISTER. You kept at it until you found it. George
Carol, I might have a coincidental connection. Is John Paul UBHAUS, born June 1855 one of yours? When I searched the parish register of St. Mary's in Newark I included names that seem to cluster together, even if I didn't know the relationship. I came across the name Ubhaus often. I also included births and marriages where my family names appeared as witnesses to other marriages, etc. I have a record of John Paul UBHAUS born to George UBHAUS of Minfeld Bavaria and and Francis SCHWARZWALDER of Menchenbach, Bavaria.on June 26 1855 and baptized the next day. The sponsors were Ludwig UBHAUS and M. GROEL. If this is the UBHAUS you want I can send you a copy and the citation. SCHWARZWALDER is one of the families I am researching. Others are KASTNER, STEETS, DOERR and HOLLE in the Newark and Irvington areas. If you haven't already searched the St. Mary's records you should give them a try. Hope this helps. Monica Andersen Houston, TX

Dear All, I know some of you know and have helped my son, Tim McGarry, in his search for our family. He has been in the hospital for sometime now and I have been trying to answer his mail. For those who write to him, he is progressing and can use all your good vibes, prayers, thoughts, for sure. One piece of mail came with startling news. It solved one of our mysteries about my Mother's grandmother's maiden name, it is Barbara Murphy, born in Newfoundland, Canada, lived in Boston, MA, then New Jersey, but left another mystery in his place. So I am asking for your help. I'm trying to locate a WICKS that died recently, most likely New Jersey. I know that's a lot to ask but I never searched recent deaths and don't know how. The letter states that my mother, Florence Johnston, has been named in a Will. They also state they located a Kim Garza, related to my Great Aunt Irene Wicks Manning. Of course this firm is a research company that takes a third,so they won't reveal who died, but for those who have obituary access, maybe you'd be so kind as to help a bit. Here's the family names that should appear. Barbara Murphy, Redmond, Wicks, Schinestuhl, Manning, McGarry in Oranges, New Jersey. Thanks for any help you can give and especially keeping my son's health in your thoughts. Sheila Smith --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Milton McCONNELL was born about 1820 in Orange Co., NY. His wife was Elizabeth (unk.) and there were at least three daughters, Anna W. McCONNELL, 23 years in 1880; Addie F. McCONNELL, 21 years in 1880 and Emma F. McCONNELL, 19 years in 1880. They were residing in Caldwell, NJ. Does anyone have additional information on this family that could help me? Could someone look up this family in the 1900 Essex Co., NJ census? Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks Mona Hylton, Richmond, IN
