    3. In her 1844 Will, Susannah Wright says: "I wish my remains to be deposited in Caldwell deacent and a good headston to the Same" What or where is Caldwell? deacent - is that a misspelling of decent or does it have a meaning combined with Caldwell? Her will was filed in Essex County in Oct 1846. She names her nephew Moses Wright in the will. Can anyone place her in a Wright family? Nancy Wright

    3. Hi Folks! This is great news for NJ researchers! Regards Joan M. Lowry mailto:[email protected] -----Original Message----- Subject: [gsnj] State Archives Expands Holdings of Estate Records Date: Fri, 19 Sep 2003 10:59:48 -0400 From: "Joseph R Klett" <[email protected]> Reply-To: [email protected] To: New Jersey History ListServe <[email protected]>, GSNJ Listserve <[email protected]> Dear ListServe Members: The New Jersey State Archives is very pleased to announce a major expansion of its holdings of estate records. Earlier this month, we accessioned the wills from 1901-1952 formerly on file with the Superior Court of New Jersey. This consists of 2,239 reels of microfilm and 371 drawers of index cards. The collection is fully accessible for in-person use in the Archives' public research rooms. Mail reference service is also available for $5 per will packet; researchers should note that estate inventories are rare for the post-1900 period. The State Archives has also recently accessioned later records of the Prerogative Court (up to 1948) and the Chancery Court (up to 1886). Copies of specific court case files can be requested by mail; the charge is $1 per page. Send requests to New Jersey State Archives, P.O. Box 307, 225 West State St., Trenton, NJ 08625-0307. Payment should be made to New Jersey General Treasury. The State Archives' regular public hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30-4:30, except state holidays. We will be posting additional information about the expanded holdings of estate records soon, at the Archives' website: www.njarchives.org Happy hunting! Joseph R. Klett Chief of Archives P.S. Please forward to any relevant genealogical or historical listserves or bulletin boards. Thank you.

    3. Hi Rich, there is a person posting a family tree on Ancestry who has the name of Alice's husband as Edward, not Edwin. http://awt.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:2600220&id=I225 If that URL doesn't get you to it, try a search under Alice Boyd in New Jersey on Ancestry. 'Edwin' though, will bring up the tree too, as Edwin is listed as a son of Alice and Edward. It gives a marriage date, if I were you I'd get a copy of that marriage certificate. There could possibly be information on it to tie him to 'your' McElverys. The info in the tree gives son Edwin passing away in FL and in the SSDI there is an Edwin b.NJ 21 Mar 1915 d.1 Feb 1994 in FL. Name: EDWIN B MCELVERY SSN: 152-07-7394 Last Residence: 33604 Tampa, Hillsborough, FL Born: 21 Mar 1915 Last Benefit: Died: 1 Feb 1994 State (Year) SSN issued: NJ (Before 1951 There also is an older Edward in the SSDI in the same area, slim chance but worth looking at. Name: EDWARD MCELVERY SSN: 267-28-1150 Last Residence: 33615 Tampa, Hillsborough, FL Born: 30 Mar 1885 Last Benefit: Died: Jun 1969 State (Year) SSN issued: FL (Before 1951 I'd go to the Hillsborough County, FL Genealogy Forum on Genealogy.com (GenForum) and ask/plead/beg for an obit for the above Edward for June 1969. Also there is a website somewhere, can't find my link, where I think you can look up FL death certificate numbers so you can order a DC. take care, melissa ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rich McElvery" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, September 19, 2003 2:02 AM Subject: [NJESSEX] Searching for Edwin McElvery, East Orange, NJ > I am trying to resolve a mystery in my McElvery genealogy, and I am hoping > someone can do an obituary look up or give me advise. > > There are two Edwin McElvery's in New Jersey who I believe are the same guy, > and I was hoping some one could find his or his wife's obituary (Alice > McElvery or Carrie McElvery), which would let me know or help me determine > if these two Edwin McElvery's are the same guy. > > As it stands in my research "my" Edwin evidence disappears around 1903, with > the exception of 1946 address in East Orange. 2. Rich McElvery
    3. I am trying to resolve a mystery in my McElvery genealogy, and I am hoping someone can do an obituary look up or give me advise. There are two Edwin McElvery's in New Jersey who I believe are the same guy, and I was hoping some one could find his or his wife's obituary (Alice McElvery or Carrie McElvery), which would let me know or help me determine if these two Edwin McElvery's are the same guy. As it stands in my research "my" Edwin evidence disappears around 1903, with the exception of 1946 address in East Orange. The "other" Edwin I found in Kearny, New Jersey in 1910 and the last bit of documentation I have on him is in 1933 when he sold his property in Kearny. There is also some sketchy information about the "other" Edwin divorced his first wife and remarried Alice Boyd in 1909, and subsequently lost the McElvery family tie due to religious issues. The only lead I can go with right now is "my" Edwin's known address in July 1946 was at 31 Washington Street in East Orange. Since he was 74 years in 1946 he may have not lived later than the early 1950's. Any help or advise about finding Edwin McElvery¹s or his wife¹s obituary will be appreciated. 3. Thanks for the reply, Betty, glad I could help. This is happening right now! Someone has died, 2003, on my Grandmother's side and left her an estate. We can't figure who it is and I don't want her to lose a third of it for this firm (they're legit, I checked) to tell her who. My Nana was born in Newark, lived in East Orange, New Jersey and I spotted an Edith WICKS [email protected] 1918, died in FL. Jan. 10, 2003, on the SSI, that sounds just about right but can't find an Obit to help her. So I was wondering if she waits a bit till the rest of this estate gets settled, and the records become easier to find will she still have her inheritance. Anyone help please, Tim searching McGARRY, MURRAY, WICKS, MURPHY, SCHINESTUHL, MANNING, GRIMM, LOSI and DALY from Essex County mostly, New Jersey Clingman <[email protected]> wrote: Thanks for the info, Tim.
