Does anyone have a source of who were letter carriers in the 1920s in Newark NJ? Any record sources for this job that anyone has used? Thanks Nancy
Probably not on-line, if they could possibly still be alive, but they formed an Association @ 1887, so I'd try these, Good Luck, Sheila: James Sauber National Association of Letter Carriers 100 Indiana Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20001 or try here: [email protected] http://www.homestead.com/branch42/files/ "Nancy M. John and Amy WILLIAMSON moved to Newark about 1883. With them they brought four of their children: Edward b.1870, Arthur b.1872, Burdette b.1875, and Grace b.1878. Children born in Newark were Harry b.1884, Walter b.1886, and Florence b.1891. John died in 1898 and is buried in Fairmont Cemetary. In 1920 and 1930 Amy was living with her daughter Florence and family. Florence and her husband William H. Barber had three children, William b.1912, Hazel b.1919, and Calvin b.1927. Amy's son Walter and his wife Elizabeth lived in West Orange and had ten children. Margaret, Leona, Laura, Herbert,Ruth, Sidney, Allton, Walter, and June. Amy's son Arthur and wife Mary had two daughters, Amy and Edna. Amy's son Harry and wife Mabel had seven children. Malvina, John, Wiley, Marine, Samuel, Saidie, and Mabel. Any information about the family line, particularly about Amy's death and place of burial would be appreciated. My connection with the family is with Edward, my grandfather. Edward Williamson

-----Original Message----- From: Joseph R Klett [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, April 01, 2004 12:04 PM To: Subject: State Archives Website Postings & Award Dear Colleagues: It gives me great pleasure to announce that, yesterday, over 400 additional guides to collections were posted to the State Archives website <www.njarchives.org>. The guides range from simple box lists to complete finding aids with institutional histories, content notes and item-level descriptions. Among the new postings are four photographic image collections (see below). Choose the "State Archives" link from the main page (above the image), and then the "Catalog" link from the sidebar. Guides are linked from the catalog descriptions. URLs for the additional holdings pages that now include guide links are also provided below. In the "shameless self-promotion department," we are also proud to announce that the Mid-Atlantic Regional Archives Conference's Finding Aids Committee has named the New Jersey State Archives among its annual award winners for archival collection guides based on the posting of our online catalog and several hundred website pages and guides last year. The award will be presented at the MARAC Spring 2004 in Arlington, VA, at the end of this month. We hope to post the first round of Documentary Treasures and Searchable Databases this spring. I will continue to make announcements as new postings occur. Thanks go to DARM and departmental staff for their support of our ongoing efforts to expand the State Archives' website. In particular, I would like to acknowledge Archives staff members Veronica Meyer (webmaster), Lois Bredlow and Joanne Nestor for their excellent work on html mark-up, page design and scanning of images. Also, special thanks to Gary Saretzky for nominating the site for the MARAC award. Again, see below for direct links. Please feel free to forward or post this message to any relevant list-serves. Hello all, as someone who goes to Trenton semi regularly some tips. If you are looking for a BC- 1878-1923,DC,MC between 1878-1940 it is best to try the archives first you can get your own copy quickly if you know the date. The health bureau is for date's after those, which you usually get within an hour or 2 if you go in person. Good luck. Kevin j olvaney
While searching for another article in a NC newspaper, I found this about new developments over old gravesites http://www.wakeweekly.com/story3.shtml Patti
Kevin, I had dealings with the staff at Rosedale about 5 years ago. I sent them $15 and they sent me copies of all the information in their files concerning the plots I was interested in complete with a map. For a suitable donation and if you mailed them one of those disposable cameras, they might take the pictures as well. Thomas E. Hello list, I am wondering if there is somebody who would be willing to go to Rosedale Cemetery and take some photographs of some gravesites for me, and possibly obtain a small map of the graveyard. I am of course willing to pay for this service. Kevin King RAOGK Volunteer WWW.RAOGK.ORG Surnames - King, Moore, Entwistle, Shatwell, Iversen/Iverson, Wriggins, Pierceson,

Seeking family of Chas. HOLE/HOEL/HOWELL? b c 1700 -where? d 1749 NJ m Sarah SMITH who is prob the dau. of Henry SMITH who died in Elizabeth Town, Essex Co., NJ 1759 and names her (Sarah HOLE) in his will. Chas. HOLE was in Southold, LI, Suffolk Co., NY in 1727 where he was named executor of a will. By 1732 he was witnessing many wills in Elizabeth, NJ. It would seem Chas. migrated to NJ with the BADGLEY family. Some of The Passaic Valley info on Chas. is incorrect - shows his children, but his will does not have the same names. Was Chas. in fact part of the LI HOWELL? Howell is sometimes also spelled HOLE and HOEL. Does anyone have info on this Charles and his family? Any info welcome - Diane * * * * * * ~ ~ ~ ~ Please check our Home Page ~ ~ ~ ~ * * * * * * http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/a/n/d/Sharon-D-Andreasen/
