I just did a check of census records (primarily because these claims of Indian ancestry fascinate me and most turn out to be mythical). What I found consistently on the census records is the parents being John C. and Mary GARRISON and daughter Elizabeth being born about 1840. This age for Elizabeth is supported by later census records in which she appears with her husband William H. TAYLOR. In every instance Elizabeth (and all other family members) are listed as White. I feel very certain there is no Indian connection on the GARRISON side here...and I don't think there is on the mother's side. I found the marriage of John GARRISON to Mary HEPNER on 5 Oct. 1839. They appear to be Elizabeth's parents and Mary is also White. She appears to be the daughter of Jacob HEPNER of Deerfield based on the 1830 census for Deerfield, Cumberland County. The household has a daughter the right age to be Mary HEPNER. Joan Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
