These are not "true" records: that is, they are not based on some old record found in a town hall or something. These are DERIVED records. Mormon missionaries assembled these records by collating from several sources, and often they assign based on too few factors. I've seen this exact circumstance three times in my own research; they knew that John Smith married Jane Doe, but didn't account for the fact that there were several John Smiths and Jane Does in the area, and created a marriage record for the wrong pair.
