Fairton is about three miles south of Bridgeton. Two of my uncles and a cousin lived in what I was always told was Back Neck four or five miles south of Fairton down toward the Delaware marshes. It is a farming area or at least was when I was a kid back in the 1930s. You could take the Sea Breeze road and turn left at Herring Roe School or proceed through Fairton and take a right toward the southern end of the village to get to Back Neck as I knew it. I don't have a good map of New Jersey to give precise directions. I recall my mother mentioning someone she called "Scudder" but don't recall anyone of that name in Back Neck but that doesn't mean someone of that name didn't live in the area in the 1930s and 40s.
