Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/wQB.2ACE/1064 Message Board Post: Greetings. Still searching for the parents of William Taylor, who is buried in Wescott Free Cemetery, Main St, Mays Landing, NJ. His tombstone is difficult to read, his birth may have been in 1759 (from cemetery records in historical society). Methodist Church burned down about 1880 with records. His wife may be Ann. I believe his marriage was in 1781 but I can only find his children born starting in 1802. There must be younger Taylors' somewhere if the father was William, born in 1759. One son was Edmund, buried in the Presbyterian Cemetery, another son, John. Another son was Alexander Taylor, a blacksmith, who lived at "Kate's Landing", Mays Landing, named after his wife, Katy Pfifer. Alexander was the father of John Pennington Taylor. These people had large families. Most of this early Taylor family were buried in those two cemeteries. I have extensive research on this family but can get no further back than William. I have been told that William may have come from Cape May County but can find no proof. We strongly suspect he may have come from England or Scotland. Family lore is he was English. If anyone can help with this query on William, I would be glad to share. TIA. Sandy researching: ADAMS, TAYLOR, SMITH, SHERRY, STEELMAN, PEACHEY, LEACH, SCULL, WALDRON, WRIGHT, BIRNEY, O'HARA, STENSON
