My sister and I was thrilled three summers ago to discover the tombstone of the Rev. Daniel Elmer, our 6th great grandfather - in amazinly good condition for having died in 1755. We also noted the tombstone of Abigail. Here is the note I put about her in my genealogy database: Sheppard, Chas. E., MY HISTORY AND GENEALOGY, FHL film 441,360, p.416. Tombstone says "Mrs. Elmer, in Youth the Beloved Spouse/ of Mr. J.L. / d. Aug. 10, 1775, in 48th y. Jonathan Lorance is buried next to her on one side, and Daniel Elmer Esq. who died June 30, 1775, in his 33rd year, is buried on the other side. I am suspect this Abigail Lawrence is the widow of Jonathan Lornace and that is why the tombstone of the wife of Jonathan Lorance says she was Mrs. Elmer, in youth the beloved spouse of M. J. L. 3 Aug 2002 Mary E.V. Hill Her name was Abigail Ogden, b. 31 Oct 1727. The only child I have found she had by Theophilus Elmer was Theophilus Elmer Jr. who moved to Louisiana. I have the names of 7 children she had by Jonathan Lorance. Mary E. V. Hill
