Eastern Standard Time, [email protected] writes: Cumberland Furnace is a familiar place for me as I am one of the decendents of the Hess's of Hesstown nearby there and I have relatives in that Methodist Cemetery. It has a lot of history and I have a lot of it on hand. My ggg grandfather came to Port elizabeth and settled there. All of his son's and daughters lived on a road named Hesstown Road from PT /Elizabeth to RT 49 I have a map of the old home foundations of my original family. It has just been recently that my daughter and I would like to erect a sign for little historical Hesstown on the spot there. It is still on all of our SJ maps you know. Some of the stones in the Cemetery at the church are not legible and one of those is my great grandfather's. Recently within the last two weeks my son in law has been contacted to do some electrical work in that church. There is a female minister officiating there presently. I would like to come down on some Sunday morning and attend a service. The rest of my Hess family are all buried down in Head of the River. Call me or e-mail me sometime if you wish. Thanks.
