Charles was one of 11 children, so I know there are some other relatives out there. There is a Leroy Key and a Ronald Key according to my mom. However, we aren't sure which of Samuel C.'s kids they might belong to. Any information on those would also be helpful. I had several gaps at one point (when I had all of geneology), and may have again, but now there is more information out there to help close those gaps. Seems to me David H. Key rings a bell, (as in I might be able to tie a name to a photo), but he is also part of what I lost. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I was one of two little girls that used to visit Alice all the time. I am the eldest grand neice, Terry. I do have to clear up one thing, though, and that is to my knowledge and to my mother's (Virginia), there was only one Everett, and my grandfather was it. He and Helen only had my Mom and my uncle Robert. I remember the cookies well, as does my sister, and while they were good in flavor, they were dry. We needed milk to "help them". Did "Aprilbaby" ever respond with sibling names? Do you have Alice's obit? This is not my family, but my father, who graduated in Millville's Class of 1938, had C. Everett Key as a teacher - - then so did I, when I graduated in 1966. C. Everett (might the silent first name be Charles?) was very chummy with Mrs. Boggs, a business teacher, and Dad said that's because they were bro. and sis. C. Everett died, in his 90s, a few years ago, struck by a car near the post office, if Dad's memory is reliable. You may wish to check the SSDI for him. I saw his grave at Mt. Pleasant. 2. Haines Brown
    3. Lois, It has been quite a while since the subject of the Hackett line in Camden and/or Cumberland Cty was discussed. The only information I have is based on family tradition, and so naturally is unreliable. Craig's Glouster County Marriages has Lydia Hackett marrying Benjamin W. Brown on 2 July 1838. That information is suspect because as far as I know, Benjamin Webb Brown moved from upper New York State to Camden on 12 July 1838, and was married to Lydia in the First Baptist Church there. I would be interested in knowing what happned to the records of this church. The couple apparently had five children: 1. Sara Jane (1839-1839) 2. Mary Elizabeth (1839-1839) 3. Emma R. (1840-1877) 4. Daniel (1843-1859) 5. Elvira G. (1847-1874) Are the marriages and descendents of Emma or Elvira known? Benjamin was burried in Evergreen Cmty, Camden, and perhaps Lydia as well, but I don't know the date of her death. Haines Brown

I have not been able to prove we are, but have come no closer to proving we aren't. I know that we came from a "John Key" in Repaupo back in the late 1700's to early 1800's, but his diaries yielded very little information about where he came from or who his parents were. If anyone has anything that would help, I'm interested. I lost all my family history on my mom's side in my last move, so I have to start over again. 3. Hi John, Well, that is good to know that some other families from that area went to down to VA. My Husteds were in the now Harrison County, WVA *AND *Fayette County, Pennsylvania areas. This was all one large county at the time and got divided later. This area had severe Indian problems at that time - 1777 being particularly bad, according to the accounts I read. I would imagine that the women would like to return to safer areas. I believe I have seen the name Sayre in conjunction with Husted genealogy - although it might be just doing research in the area in that time period. Thanks for the information. Which I would not have known about if you had not told us about your book! Does anyone else on this list have family that went from New Jersey (Cumberland/Salem area) to Virginia in that time period? I am sure our family was not the only family that did so. Thanks! 1. Re: [NJCUMBER] New Books on Philip Vickers Fithian

    3. Hello, This is very interesting to me because I have a Husted family that appears in Virginia in the time period 1774 (Lord Dunsmore's War) or before - from perhaps.... New Jersey. At least the DNA trail says New Jersey. And Philip Vickers Fithian had a Journal 2 that talked of being in Virginia during that time period. Which I would not have known about if you had not told us about your book! Does anyone else on this list have family that went from New Jersey (Cumberland/Salem area) to Virginia in that time period? I am sure our family was not the only family that did so. Thanks! 1. [NJCUMBER] New Books on Philip Vickers Fithian
    2. Greetings, I signed up for this list about eight years ago when I began research on a biography of one of Cumberland County's favorite sons--Philip Vickers Fithian. ?Through the years, the members of the list have been very helpful to me as I have set out to write the only full-length biography of Fithian ever published. ?Many of you have answered my queries and have been more than gracious with your knowledge of Cumberland County history and geneaology. ?I have also enjoyed my conversations with many of you off the list. Please forgive the shameless self-promotion, but the project is finally complete! *The Way of Improvement Leads Home: Philip Vickers Fithian and the Enlightenment in Early America* will hit bookstores on February 29, 2008. ?It will be published by the ?University of Pennsylvania Press. ?I think the people who regularly read and contribute to this list will find the book useful and entertaining. ?It describes Philip's life growing up in Greenwich, his upbringing in the Presbyterian Church, his love affair with Elizabeth "Betsy" Beatty, his journeys to Virginia and Pennsylvania, and his tragic death as a chaplain in George Washington's army at the Battle of Long Island. ?The central thesis of the book centers around Fithian's deep and abiding love for his "beloved Cohansey" and the homesickness that came when he was forced to leave Cohansey for what he believed to be God's call on his life and his pursuit of ambition. ?Would Philip's "way of (self) improvement" eventually "lea! d him home?" ?Read the book and find out!! As I said, the book will be available on February 29th, but it is available for pre-order on Amazon.com. http://www.amazon.com/Way-Improvement-Leads-Home-Enlightenment/dp/0812241096/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1202009461&sr=8-1 If you are interested in purchasing a copy directly from the publisher, drop me an e-mail at jfea@messiah.edu and I will be happy to forward you an order form that offers a 20% discount on the book. ?(Please respond to me privately rather than to the entire list). Again, I know that many of you have e-mailed privately about this book and have asked me to announce when it will be available, so here it is! I thank you so much for your interest in this project over the years. All the best, John Fea P.S. ?I will be giving a book talk at the Salem County History Society on April 8, 2008 and speaking on Fithian at the Cumberland County Historical Society on November 1, 2008. ?I may also be doing a few more in the region--please check my web page: www.messiah.edu/~jfea for updates. ?I hope to meet some of you at these events and will be happy to sign any and all copies of *The Way of Improvement Leads Home*.
